Champion of Liberty

About

Daisy Bygrave

I am a native of Toronto, having been born and raised here.  I left Toronto to pursue my post secondary education, but not before earning a full athletic scholarship to Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.  I was a member of the track and field team during my four years at Seton Hall and I earned ALL AMERICAN status as a member of the 4x400m relay team.

I obtained my law degree from HARVARD LAW SCHOOL in 2000. Thereafter I worked for a Federal District Judge in Detroit, Michigan, and then onto a big corporate law firm in Washington, DC, where I practiced in the litigation department.  I left the law firm in 2002 to pursue my passion and my life’s work as a defender of the liberties of every day citizens.

From October 2002 until November 2007, I worked for the prestigious Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia.  I represented adult clients as well as juvenile clients, all facing very difficult situations.  I tried murder cases all the way down to misdemeanor cases and everything in between.  While defending my clients before many judges and juries, I experienced great success in fighting “the system” and I have numerous memories and victories that will stay with me for a lifetime.

After my time in Washington, DC, I continued my work as a public defender.  I moved to Los Angeles, California where I worked as a Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California.  There I worked at the appellate level, organizing massive litigation efforts on behalf of our clients.  I represented individuals on California’s death row and other individuals facing life sentences.  I reviewed trial records in an effort to uncover errors or lapses in the defence strategy employed by trial counsel and I conducted new investigation and litigation in an effort to give our clients one last chance.  During my time in Los Angeles, I also worked in the trial division where I defended clients facing federal criminal prosecutions and very strict and punitive sentencing guidelines.

After four years in Los Angeles, I came back home to Toronto.  I have had great success here at home as I have been busy at work implementing the exceptional skills that I have acquired along my journey as a true champion of liberty.  I look forward to serving you and your loved ones. You are in good hands – – that I can assure you.
